In nearly five years of living and working in Tokyo, I visited plenty of temples and shrines that were not part of any set pilgrim's course. As those come up, I will post about them and add them to the list here. They tend to fall into four categories:
- Sites near Tokyo, including Kamakura
- Sites near Kyoto, including Nara and Asuka
- Sites along the Tokaido
- Sites in western Kyushu
...as well as other, scattered, visits.
