A rakshasa or demon is crushed under the foot of Virudhaka in the Heavenly Kings' Hall at Wenshu Yuan in Chengdu, Sichuan. These figures represent the "crushing" of unhelpful desires. They also sometimes serve to hold up the unsupported leg of a statue.
