The Konghai Memorial is dedicated to a Japanese monk also known as Kukai or Kobo Daishi, who studied at Qinglong (Green Dragon) Temple in Xi'an, Shaanxi, during the Tang Dynasty. It stands on the temple's original grounds, as does a replica of the main hall where Huiguo initiated Kukai.
