Today I celebrated the birthday of Guanyin, Bodhisattva of Compassion. I cleaned the shrine and statue in my garden and placed my small altar platform; showered, brushed my teeth, and put on my lay robe. After lighting incense and saying opening prayers, I chanted the Heart Sutra and read the Universal Door Chapter, then said closing prayers. Tonight I will chant my daily round of Heart Sutras in front of my Kannon (Guanyin) scroll from a pilgrimage I did in Japan. Happy birthday, Guanyin Pusa!
